1. Who We Are
Genesis ("we", "us", "our") operates the Genesis study platform at genesis.app. We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy.
2. What Information We Collect
We collect: (a) Account information — your name and email address when you create an account. (b) Usage data — which tools you use, how often, and when, to enforce plan limits and improve the Service. (c) Content you input — text you paste into tools is processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate responses. We do not permanently store your input content on our servers beyond what is needed to complete the request. (d) Payment information — handled directly by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. (e) Technical data — IP address, browser type, and device information for security and rate limiting.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: provide and improve the Service; enforce usage limits based on your plan; send transactional emails (account confirmation, payment receipts, trial reminders); respond to support requests; detect and prevent abuse. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. AI Processing
Content you paste into Genesis tools is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Anthropic processes this data subject to their privacy policy and data processing terms. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models. YouTube transcripts fetched through our Service are processed in-memory and not permanently stored.
5. Data Storage
Your account data and saved work (notes, flashcard decks, study plans) are stored in Supabase, a cloud database provider. Data is stored in data centres that may be located outside your country of residence. We implement appropriate technical safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
6. Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser local storage (not cookies) to save your preferences (dark mode, sidebar state) and tool outputs between sessions. This data stays in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights including: access to your personal data; correction of inaccurate data; deletion of your account and associated data; data portability; objection to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email privacy@genesis.app. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Usage logs are retained for 90 days for abuse prevention. If you delete your account, your personal data is deleted within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g. payment records for 7 years).
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
